No Barriers Stopping Teviotdale Harriers

At a sunny but snowy Broxburn on Saturday 20th January, Teviotdale Harriers had 9 runners, Wood, Harper, McCadam, MacAskill, Ballantyne, Anderson, Walker, Biggar, Coltman, Lockie and Ingils.

The sun started to shine and the first race for Teviotdale Harriers was the U13 boys with 2 runners from the Harriers representing the club, Conan Harper and Robert Wood. The gun fired and off the 2 boys went on their 2.7km course. Harper straight from the gun got himself into a good position sitting in 12th at the half way point and young Robert Wood flying around staying with the pack. Up the Lungbuster Hill they go and both runners trying their best to stay in a good position. Running through the snow the final 100m came and both Harper and Wood putting on an excellent sprint finish. Harper finishing in an astonishing 14th place and a time of 11.28 and Robert Wood finishing in a great 73rd place with a time of 13.17.

Maisie Ballantyne at a stunning Broxburn

The next race on the schedule for the Harriers was the Senior/Junior Ladies, with only 1 Harrier making their way to the Start line. Pauline McCadam had 2×2.7km laps to run. Pauline had a fantastic run finishing in 108th place in a time of 33.11. A great run by Pauline.

The next race on the cards for Teviotdale Harriers was the U15 boys and followed 3 minutes after by the U15 girls. The U15 distance was 4.1km, 1 short loop 1.4km and one large 2.7km. Thomas MacAskill made his way to the start line before the start of the U15 boys. Thomas found himself in a good position with around 800m to go and started to pass a few people before the last 100m. He sprinted for the line trying to get the best possible place. Thomas finished in 34th place with a time of 17.57. Maisie Ballanytne started the U15 girls race along side the U17 women. Maisie had a great run finishing in a brilliant 46th place and 34th in her category with a super time of 21.08.

The last race for the Harriers and the last race of the day was the Senior/Junior men. Their was a whopping amount of runners that started the race, with 6 of them being Teviotdale Harriers, all ready to tackle the 8.1km course 3×2.7km laps. The runners were Greg Walker, Rory Anderson, Alan Ingils, Alistair Biggar, Paul Lockie and Alan Coltman. The gun went off and Rory and Greg found themselves running together for the first third of the race. Alistair, Alan, Paul and Alan all having great runs aswell. The 6 determined Teviotdale Harriers had alot of hard work to do. The last lap came and Greg kept working with Rory not long behind him and Alan and Alistair following. Greg comes motoring down the last hill and Rory Anderson quickly behind him. Shortly after Alan and Alistair also running fast came down the last hill. Greg showed his winter training is paying off finishing in a great 58th place and a cracking time of 32.00 and Rory Anderson showing his great form finishing in 66th place and with a great time of 32.29. Alan finished in 169th place and with a time of 38.44, Alistair finished in 180th place with a time of 39.32. Paul Lockie finished in 248th place in a time of 46.12 and Alan Coltman finished in 257th with a time of 47.28.

Great eat runs by everybody in Broxburn for the last East District Race of the season.
