Teviotdale Harriers held their annual Menzies races on Saturday 17 December with all races except the u/13 girls and boys being sealed handicaps with no one knowing the outcome until the last runner had crossed the line. First it was the u/13 girls race with Ishbel Inglis taking the spoils in the time of 11:42 and Emma Grieve coming home second (12:57). In the u/13 boys race Fraser Clyne was first across the line winning in the time of 11:40, in second place it was David Mercer (11:47) and in third place it was Jamie Waugh who finished in the time of 11:57.
In the u/17 boys race it was junior captain Keith Learmonth who won in the time of 18min 27sec, with Kyle Potts second (18:37).
In the ladies race Pam Paxton lifted the trophy winning in the time 18:19, in second spot it was Donna Inglis (18:42) with Anne Renwick taking third place (18:47). Louise Mercer was first to cross the line picking up the William Lunn Spence trophy.
In the senior men’s race Darrel Hastie from Kelso crossed the line first lifting the Oliver Trophy, but when the handicap was worked out the winner of the Menzies Trophy was Michael Yule in the time of 23:39, in second equal place it was Darrel Hastie and Alan Samuel (25:13).
The following day 20 members took part in the annual Christmas relays in and around Wilton lodge park, afterwards everyone retired to the clubrooms where the presentation of prizes were made.
