The 47th Burns Club Trophy Races took place on Saturday afternoon, a pleasant but cold day with the underfoot conditions a little slippy but not too bad. The only race on the calender that the men get to go off first as this is also a social day courtesy of Hawick Burns Club.
The men competing for the Will Clark trophy, 1st Colin Nichol (20.29), 2nd Craig Grieve (20.42) and 3rd Alan Samuel (20.54).
Under 11 Girls, Boys and Under 13 Girls started next with a very competitive field, the race took them up to the museum past the Hizzy statue and back down the waterside, leading from start to finish with a time of 8.44 1st Sophie Allott, 2nd Emma Grieve (8.47) and 3rd Skye Patterson (9.11). The under 11 Boys battled it out with Ben Morrozo taking the honours in 8.41 closely followed by Fraser Clyne (8.43) and Duncan Little 3rd (8.47).
The under 13 and under 17 boys and ladies all ran the same course for this race. The boys competing for The Burns Club Trophy; 1st Nathaniel Jones (16.54), 2nd Jamie Waugh (17.01) and 3rd Joseph Tottman (17.25). Pam Paxton (17.14) took the honours in the ladies race to pick up her second win of the season, Sylvia Grieve 2nd (17.22) and 3rd Samantha Ballantyne (17.24) in her debut race for the club.
All trophies and medals were presented after the races in The Burns Club where refreshments were laid on courtesy of The Burns Club.
