Christmas Relays and Christmas Raffle

Christmas Relays

Sunday saw 36 athletes all in festive attire or fancy dress line up  to take part in the Christmas Relays.  There were 6 teams of 6.  Winning team was Lana Stranger, Hollie Grieve, Thomas MacAskill, Ishbel Inglis, Ryan Stewart, Fraser Clyne. 2nd team Maddie Patterson, Harrison Hughes, Donna Inglis, Pam Paxton, Alex Corbett, Scott Watson. 3rd team Maisie Ballantyne, Lewis Renwick, Alison Williams, Kirsty Hughes, Brian Gibb, Craig Grieve. 4th team Maisie Drabner-Graham, Calum Renwick, Emma Grieve, Anne Aitken, Frank Birch, Rory Anderson. 5th team Iona Morozo, Boyd Hughes, Catriona Young, Lyndsey Knox, Lauren Corbett, Alan Inglis. 6th team Hope Stewart, Ava Hughes, Sophie Allott, Pauline MacAdam, Francis Cannon, Derek Scott. All retired to the clubrooms for presentation of prizes and Christmas raffle.

Junior training resumes Wednesday 6th January 2016.

East District Cross Country Championships, Livingston

Saturday past saw a depleted squad of runners head to Livingston for the East District Cross Country Championships. The event was being hosted by Lothian Running Club and the course was a good mix of mud, grass and forest trails on the side of Dechmont Law. Four juniors took part in this important race which is the qualifying race for selection to run for the East District Team.

First off for Teviotdale Harriers were the under 13 boys and Jai Patterson and Thomas MacAskill represented the club. Jai finished the 3,200m course in a time of 13:40 in 32nd position. Thomas finished in a time of 15:11 in 51st position.

Next race was the U15 boys with Fraser Clyne completing the 3,900m course in a time of 14:36 coming home in 21st position.

Fifth race of the day was a combined race for U17 and U20 women. Ishbel Inglis completed the 5,100m course in a time of 22:41 in 19th position.

The next race of the day was the senior ladies taking on a 6,400 course. First home was Lauren Corbett in a time of 31:02 in 81st position followed by Pauline McAdam in a time of 34:21 in 95th position. The ladies have the pleasure of moving to the same distance as the men from next year in championship races!

The penultimate race of the day saw Kyle Potts tackling an 8,000m course in the U20 mens race. Kyle finished in a time of 36:26 in 29th position

The final race was the senior men over 9,600m. Teviotdale men were battling it out for the Jimmy Grierson Memorial Trophy which is given to the first senior Teviotdale man in the east district championships. Rory Anderson was first harrier home in a time of 36:30 in 68th position and he will collect the trophy at presentation night. Second home was Craig Grieve in a time of 37:39 in 96th position. Alan Inglis was next home in a time of 41:54 in 179th position followed by Alan Colman and Paul Lockie in times of 49:34 and 50:39 and 246th and 249th positions respectively.

Burns Club Races

Teviotdale Harriers held their annual Burns Club races on Saturday 28th November. Following tradition the senior men were first away competing for the Will Clark Memorial Trophy with honours going to Club President Alan Coltman in a time of 20.11, 2nd place was Bruce Hughes in 20.34 and 3rd Paul Lockie 20.37. Fastest actual time Bruce Hughes.

The juniors were next to run with u11 boys and u11/u13 girls competing together. The winner of the Stan Reid trophy was Sinead McHugh in a time of 8.22, 2nd Maddie Hewitt 8.23 and 3rd Ava Hughes 8.38 fastest actual time Maddie Hewitt. In the boys race the 1st place and winner of the Ian Watson memorial shield was taken by Hector Patterson 8.17, 2nd Conan Harper 8.18 and 3rd Calum Renwick 8.31 fastest time Hector Patterson.

The Burns Club race is the only time the u13 boys run along with the u15/u17 boys and the u15 girls and senior ladies. There was a new trophy for the ladies race which was kindly donated by the John and Mary Elliot Memorial Trust and it was fitting that the 1st winner of the cup was their great granddaughter Lucy Ash in a time of 14.45, she received the cup along with a medal and a big hug from her Granny Liz Elliot, 2nd place went to Ishbel Inglis 14.47 and 3rd was Kirsty Hughes 15.06. fastest time Ishbel Inglis. The boys race saw Fraser Clyne win The Burns Club Trophy for the 1st time in 14.45, 2nd Harrison Hughes 14.52 and 3rd last years winner Jamie Waugh 15.05 fastest time was Fraser Clyne.

All races/times include handicaps.

Following the races everyone retired to the Burns Club for the prize giving and refreshments. Teviotdale Harriers would like to express their thanks to all at the Burns Club for kindly sponsoring this race yet again.
