REGISTRATION AND PRIZE GIVING AT HAWICK & WILTON CRICKET CLUB

Registration opens at  11:15am and closes at 12:30 pm for 10k  and  5k, and  closes 12 noon  for fun run.

Cost 10k £12  and  5k £8    ( £2 discount for SAL members )

Fun Run £2 enter on the day only

10k runners must be 15 years old or over on race day

5k runners must be 11 years old or over on race day

Fun run runners under 16 years but old enough to run ! (and under 6 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible person around the course).

REFRESHMENTS AVAILABLE

A fast flat course run through scenic Wilton Lodge Park,Hawick.

Closing Date for 10k & 5k 25th August -or until all places are taken. If places are still available on the day entries may be made for an additional £2

Prizes

  • Fun Run – winners trophy for 1st Boy and 1st Girl and sweets for 1st 2nd and 3rd boy and girl.
  • 10k  1st=£60, 2nd=£40 3rd=£20 for male and females and 1st male and 1st female master £40 each and also Team Prize (mixed Team of 4).
  • 5 k 1st =£30, 2nd=£20 and 3rd=£10 for male and female runners ,with no masters prize, but with under 16s prize with 1st boy and girl also receiving £20 each. If U16 wins 5k would get higher 5k prize.
  • Spot prizes for 10k and 5 k finishers.

Teviotdale Harriers – AGM

The annual general meeting of Teviotdale Harriers will take place on Thursday 6th September at 7:00pm at the Cricket Club.

Under normal circumstances a notice is displayed on the notice board in the clubrooms asking for nominations for office bearers but as the clubrooms are out of bounds we are unable to follow this procedure. Anyone wishing to propose someone for one of the roles (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Committee etc.) within the club should send their proposal along with the name of a seconder to club president Alan Coltman HERE.

Teviotdale Harriers Opening Run

The tradition of Club Captain and opening run goes back to the very beginning of Scotland’s third oldest running club. One of the founding members, John R Purdom was elected the first ever Teviotdale Harriers Captain and led the members on the first opening run. Through the years a Ladies Captain and laterally Junior Captains have evolved into a much coveted role.

Christie Cup

The first club race of the new season is on Saturday, 15th September. Race start and registration is at the new cafe in Wilton lodge Park. Registration from 12:45pm onward with the first race off at 1:30pm prompt.
 
Juniors 1 lap, ladies 2 laps and men 3 and a bit laps. From memory 1 lap is approx 897m so it’s a pretty short race and an ideal first outing if you haven’t raced before. Men run 3,000m
 
Juniors note – please be ready to warm up at 1:15pm at the latest in order to be ready for the 1.30pm start.

Juniors – Under 11/13 Boys and Girls
To take part you must inform Alex Corbett if you intend running to enable him to compile handicaps for you. If you’re new the handicap system means that in theory everybody has the same chance of wining. If you are a junior you should let Alex know your age as at the 1st September. Entries close Wednesday 12th September. 
 
 
Other Entries – Senior Men, U15/17 Girls and Senior Ladies, U15/17 Boys
We are looking for a handicapper for the 2018/19 season, if you are interested let me know. If you want to take part in the Christie Cup let me know and I can add your name to the list which will be passed to the new handicapper.

Run under SHR rules (full kit may be required depending on weather)

Note: Race and parking all taking place on farmland with livestock by kind permission from local farmers so please do not bring dogs.

SCOTTISH ATHLETICS CHANGE TO RULES – if you enter and your SAF membership is not up to date you can’t be added into the entry lists after the closing date. BE SURE YOUR MEMBERSHIP IS CURRENT WHEN YOU ENTER OR YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TAKE PART.
 
For those of you new to the club you must be a member of Scottish Athletics to run in this event and you must also wear a club vest.
 
The relays are team events with a team of four making up the men’s team and a team of three making up the ladies team. Both teams run 4,000m legs. For the juniors we need an U13, U15 & U17 runner for the three 2,500m legs. Junior runners can move up one age category but not down. The number of  teams in each event will be dependent on the level of interest in the senior races and also on how many of each age category we have in the junior teams. EG if we don’t have any U13 runners the U15&U17 runners can’t take part and we don’t have a team. U13s are therefore particularly important.

Declarations are at the Course.

Young Females and Young Males declarations open at 10am.

Women’s and Men’s declarations open at 1115am.
Senior/Junior Women will run 4 Laps – Masters Women and W50+ will run 3 laps as in previous years.
Women’s Teams with 4 athletes will be considered for the Senior/Junior Race only.
Senior/Junior and Master Men will run 4 Laps – Masters M50 will run 3 laps only.

PARKING
Parking will not be available at Cumbernauld High School. A Park & Ride system will be operational from St Maurice’s High School, North Road, Cumbernauld G68 9AG. This will operate from 0830hrs and will drop off athletes on Meadow View.
Tent drop off will also be at Meadow View – Tents must not be dropped off via the access road to the theatre and course, this must be kept clear of traffic at all times.
Drivers must only park in designated areas, any cars illegally parked will be reported to the police and removed.

TOILETS
Toilets will be available at the course.

SHOWERING and CHANGING FACILITIES
Tryst Sports Centre, located at Cumbernauld town centre and is a 5 min drive from Cumbernauld House Park.
The facility manager has kindly given permission for athletes and spectators of the event to use the TRYST SPORTS centre up to 6pm.
The facility provide hot showering facilities and changing rooms with hairdryers etc.
This will be FREE of charge.

Parking:
Parking is available in the Blaize Parking area on the left as you enter the Equestrian Complex. Additional overflow parking is available within the Lawrie & Symington Ltd Car Parks off Hyndford Road across the road from the race course.
Access to the course can be made through the fencing at the round-a-bout entrance to Lawrie & Symington.
Please take extra care when crossing Hyndford Road. All drivers are reminded to park responsibly.

Tent Drop Off:
Tent Drop off is availalbe at the officials car parking by the artificial football pitch
