The Harriers travelled up to Livingston for the second East District League race last weekend. The conditions were better than expected with only one really muddy section which I can only describe as Bambie trying to run on ice the mud was so bad; however everyone managed not to0 badly.
Under 11 boys and girls started the days racing off with two harriers competing; Fraser Clyne was first to cross the line in 8th place overall with a fantastic run in 6.14 followed by Lucy Graham who was 30th (7.54) in the girls race who after the race said it was not muddy enough.
Under 13 boys and girls took to the line with five kids starting so we had a lot of cheering on to do, Jamie Waugh was first harrier home taking 35th spot (10.49), also with a great run Joseph Tottman and David Mercer had a battle with each other all round the course with both crossing the line in 11.11 getting 43rd and 44th place respectively. The girls did just as well with Ishbel Inglis (11.14) taking 35th place and Emma Grieve 45th (12.19) also finishing strongly.
The Ladies took to the course next with Pam Paxton taking the lead for Teviotdale over the two lap course which was getting a bit churned up by now but all three ladies managed to stay on their feet and finished as follows: Pam Paxton 76th (31.12), Catriona Young 99th (35.08) and Sylvia Grieve 107th not quite last (38.41).
Catherine Mercer was the only under 17 girl who ran, coming in 41st place (16.52).
Last up for the day as the temperature started to drop were the senior men, the bottom bend by now very muddy and slippy as the men started out on their three laps. Derek Scott (38.08) came in first for Teviotdale in 62nd , Alan Inglis (41.00) 117th and club president Alan Coltman (49.49) 209th.
